On November 20, 1985, Microsoft Corporation, founded six years earlier, released Windows 1.0.
The DOS add-on was officially announced by Bill Gates on November 10, 1983 in New York, but was released only 2 years and 10 days later.
This version of Windows was officially supported for 16 years and 1 month, which is the longest support period for the line of this operating system. At the same time, the last update for Windows 1.04 was released in 1987.
